In a world where white magic stems from the dity "The One" and black magic from the forbidden "Belowers", the hermit sorcerer Rowan is hunted by the knigdoms due to his indepence and illicit studies. Following a brutal attack that claims his family's lives, Rowan loses his faith and his ability to wield white magic, turning to the Belowers for dark power.

Driven by the pain of his loss, Rowan seeks to eradicate human suffering through a glbal immortality spell. However, this gift turns into a curse that corrupts social order and plunges the world into eternal stagnation. A century later, after all attempts to stop him have failed, "The One" intervenes by sending his guardians to aid any brave soul who dares to climb Rowan's tower and bring an end to eternal life.
